Synopsis: Thor finds himself in fierce battle with the Destroyer, but all of a sudden, he begins phasing into an immaterial form, so that none of the Destroyer's blows land on him. He phases through the floor and is able to escape the wrath of the Destroyer, giving him valuable time to figure out what to do next...even though he doesn't know the exact reason he's able to phase! Of course, the answer is that Loki is trying his best to help Thor stay alive against the Destroyer, though he has been taxed to the limit in projecting phasing power to Thor all the way from Asgard and can no longer extend that power to his half-brother. He decides to call upon the Norn Queen to help.

Meanwhile, Thor realizes that - faced with death or not - he must confront the Destroyer head on and face the challenge. His attempts at physical confrontation are for naught, and then Thor shifts tactics and heads straight for the chamber where the physical body of the hunter stands. Thor grabs hold of the hunter and keeps him away from the Destroyer, holding him up as a shield so that if the Destroyer - who is controlled by the mind of the hunter - shoots a bolt of energy at Thor, he will destroy his human form. This gives the Destroyer pause...

The Norn Queen agrees to help Loki, and their only option at this point is to awaken Odin from his Odinsleep. Odin is startled awake by a vision sent by the Norn Queen of Thor at the mercy of the Destroyer. He sends a mental message to Thor, but his son tells him to stay his hand so that he alone can defeat the Destroyer. As it stands, the Destroyer gives up, not wanting to cause the death of his corporeal body. But when Thor lets the hunter go, he races towards the Destroyer so that he can be free of Thor and once again attack! But Thor unleashes a tremor throughout the temple, causing the hunter to fall down and not reach his goal. The temple begins to fall apart all around them, burying the Destroyer inside, while Thor carries the hunter to safety.

Thor sets the hunter free, and Odin hails Thor's heroic defeat of the Destroyer. He castigates Loki for getting Thor into this predicament in the first place and consigns him to the servitude of Ularik, Odin's royal warlock.

Down on Earth, Thor realizes his uru hammer is broken and he must fix it before he returns to Asgard, and he sets out on a mission to do just that. Meanwhile, Loki begins his next scheme to defeat his brother....
