Synopsis: Loki, who is trapped inside a tree until someone sheds a tear for his plight (the conditions of his punishment for previous misdeeds,) uses his stealthy cunning to drop a leaf onto the nose of Heimdall, who sneezes and sheds a tear! Thus, he is free from his prison and makes way for revenge against the God who captured him- the Mighty Thor! He channels an image of Thor's whereabouts through his connection with the Uru mineral of which the hammer is composed. He traces Thor to New York City, and ascends down Bifrost, leaving the hallowed halls of Asgard to go Earth in human disguise. He blends into the scenery and realizes he will not be able to get at Thor unless he causes a scene that Thor's heroism won't allow him to ignore.

Thus, Loki uses his powers to transform some innocent citizens into "negatives," where their matter is turned from positive into anti-matter. This strange scene sends the town into a buzz, and Dr. Don Blake hears of the situation and, disappearing once again from the side of nurse Jane Foster, turns into Thor to help save the day. He manages to reverse the anti-matter particles by use of his hammer, restoring the people to their "positive" selves. After that, Loki reveals himself to Thorand challenges him to battle.

Loki manages to hypnotize Thor but cannot get him to submit to his ultimate goal, dropping the hammer Mjolnir, until he concocts a clever scheme! Thor will not give his hammer to just anybody, even in hypnosis, so Loki creates a mirror image of Thor, and Thor readily agrees to hand the hammer to his mirage self. Of course, it falls to the ground through the hands of the apparition, and Loki commands Thor to walk to the zoo and release all the wild animals. Thor obeys his commands, but after sixty seconds, is Don Blake once again and immune from the hypnosis spell.

Mjolnir lies on the ground, and mortal men try but fail to pick it up. Loki loiters around waiting to see the beasts roam free, but wonders what is taking so long. Don Blake wanders over to the hammer and picks it up, changing back into Thor. Being taken by surprise, Loki decides to flee in a flock of pigeons to escape and think up a new plan to defeat Thor. Thor catches up to him by the time Loki has reached a theater. Inside the theater, Loki uses some magic to animate huge, heavy curtains to fall atop Thor and pin him down.

The chase is on again, as Loki escapes to the subway system, but Thor catches up to him again, saving a train full of people from Loki's tricky means of escape. Loki makes his final attempt to flee by animating the horse on a gasoline station sign and flying away. Thor grabs a huge section of pipe and hurls it at Loki, scoring a bullseye! The pipe fits down over Loki and the weight of it carries Loki down into the Hudson River. Before he can drown, Thor grabs Loki, ties him to his hammer, and hurls him back to Asgard. The hammer returns to him within sixty seconds, so he doesn't change back into Don Blake.
