Synopsis: While Dr. Don Blake vacations on the shores of Norway, a spaceship lands in a nearby field. From the planet Saturn, this ship carries the Stone Men, powerful aliens of rocky substance who wish to take over the planet Earth. While they excercise their considerable might and fire their lethal ray guns, they are spotted by an old fisherman, who takes his story back to town and is believed by nobody that hears his tale. Nobody- that is- except Dr. Don Blake!

Blake heads to the area where the fisherman claimed to have seen the aliens, and after much looking, finally spots them himself. They sense his presence, and take chase after him, which concerns the lame doctor greatly as he feels he has little chance at outrunning them. He makes for a cave up a rocky incline, and huddles in fear waiting for the dread moment to come. He stumbles onto a hidden space where rests a gnarled old cane on a flat rock. He takes it up, thinking he can use the wood stick to help move a boulder in place to block the entrance from the advance of the Stone Men. This is to no avail, however, and in frustration he smacks the boulder with the cane.

Incredibly, Blake finds himself transformed in a loud clap of thunder and a flash of lightning into the Mighty Thor, holding the hammer that declares his worthiness to hold it. He escapes undetected from his cave hiding place, and revels in his newfound power, testing the hammer's strength, hurling it away and watching it return to his grasp, and conjuring the wind and the rain. He also finds out that he cannot be far removed from his new weapon for too long before he would turn back into his mortal alter ego.

He decides to make an offensive move against the threat of the Stone Men, who are that moment harassing a NATO air base with their fleet of spaceships. He flies off to their location and takes his hammer to their rocky forms. They try to capture him behind bars, but he easily destroys them and is faced with their robotic beast, the Mechano-Monster! With one swing of the hammer, the machine is totalled, and the Stone Men race away in fear from planet Earth.
