Synopsis: Mysterio simmers over his desire for revenge against Spider-Man, thinking back on his escape from prison after his capture with the Wizard (see ANN #4), and he begins to plan a decisive plot to destroy his foe. Meanwhile, Spider-Man is winging his way across town after his prison escape and heads straight home to get a good night's sleep. Later, he tries to sell pictures to Jameson, who boots him out of his office. Dejected at his inability to raise cash, he is forced to sell his motorcycle to make some money. Suddenly, Mysterio appears in the city streets, passing right by Peter on his quest to draw Spider-Man out into the open. Frustrated, Peter decides not to pursue Mysterio, since he poses no obvious danger at the moment.
Gwen reunites with Peter and tells him that everything is okay after her father explained what really happened between the two of them. Robbie Robertson meets with Gwen's father, Captain George Stacy, and the two compare notes on Spider-Man from their perspectives as journalist and criminologist. Peter tries to help Harry find his father, but unknown to both of them, Norman has slipped back into his Goblin persona.
Mysterio appears on television threatening the city if Spider-Man doesn't meet him. The frightful telecast causes Aunt May to pass out. With Anna Watson tending to his fragile aunt, Peter rushes off to face Mysterio as Spider-Man. He meets him at the soundstage where they first faced off against each other (see ASM #13). Mysterio surprises Spider-Man, shooting with him in a ray gun that appears to shrink him to six inches high. Spider-Man is now under the thumb of Mysterio in a scale model of an amusement park!
