I was bored with stealing cars anyway!” -- Electro, seeing his auto-theft ring broken up by Daredevil, p. 6 Daredevil lives up to his name, crashing into the action! (Click panels for larger images.) | Daredevil #2 Script: Stan Lee • Letters: Sam Rosen Villain: Electro Guest Appearance: Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, Karen Page, Thing Cameo: Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm Letters Page: (no letters page in this issue) House Ad: Ad #1 • Ad #2 • Ad #3 Meanwhile, Daredevil is busting up a gang of car thieves. They do their best to fight back against their skilled assailant, but Daredevil is just too good at turning every little thing to his advantage, whether it's a can of paint, a stack of tires, or a oilman's sled. With his acrobatics and skilled use of his billy club, he puts the hot car ring out of business. Their boss, Electro, doesn't much care, as he is thinking ahead to other criminal pursuits, which is to steal into the Baxter Building while the FF is out of town and rob them of their secrets. Matt goes back to his office where Karen hits him with some good news. She has spoken with a doctor who says he might be able to cure Matt's blindness. He is reluctant to go through with such a procedure as it might take away his super-sensory skills, though it is hard for him to communicate this to Karen. Matt heads over to the Baxter Building to check out the FF's lease. Electro beats him there, breaking in by using his formidable powers over electricity to gain entry. Murdock enters the building, but senses something is amiss, so he changes into Daredevil. Electro spots DD and goes into defense mode, turning on an electrical generator that casts an energy field around him. Daredevil mitigates this threat by tossing his non-conductive cane into the energy field and disabling it. But Electro sneaks up behind Daredevil and knocks him out with an electrical bolt. He takes his limp body into Reed Richard's rocket launcher and launches him into outer space. Daredevil senses he is in outer space and manages to get himself free of his bonds, then pilots the ship down to Central Park. He commandeers a hansom cab's horse and rides back to the Baxter Building. He changes back into street clothes, and while trying to figure out a way to enter the Baxter Building without being spotted by Electro, Karen page spots him and shouts out to him from across the street. Murdock pretends not to hear her so he can continue trying to catch Electro, but Karen wonders if she offended him earlier in the day. Matt decides to try an innovative way to get into the Baxter Building. He changes into Daredevil and hitches a ride on a sight-seeing helicopter by hanging from it with his cane. He drops himself down into the building, crashing through a skylight just as Electro has broken into Reed Richard's safe! Electro grabs Richard's secret plans and tries to escape from Daredevil down an elevator shaft. DD is capable enough to go into hot pursuit. Electro hitches a ride on the back of a car using his ability to manipulate electrical magnetism, while Daredevil just gives chase by running across the top of the cars. Electro escapes into a theater. The duo fight up in the rafters over the stage, and Daredevil is able to drop a huge curtain over Electro, neutralizing his powers. The police show up to douse him with water and cart him away to jail. Daredevil returns Richard's plans to his safe, then heads to the office, where the Thing and the FF complain that Matt Murdock hasn't followed through with his obligation to check out the lease. Murdock knows that was only because he was too busy doing other things for them- as Daredevil! --synopsis by Gormuu --panel images provided by Avengers Assemble --house ads provided by Karl Issues Reprinted Click on cover image to learn more about each issue. | |||||||
